Gluttonous fans of The Doors take heart. “Fat is Beautiful” says poet and frontman of the band Jim Morrison when the discussion of this 1969 interview gets on food.
As a college student Morrison had put some weight trying to get the most out of the university’s meal plan. And you know what? He loved it. “I felt so great. I felt like a tank, you know. I felt like a large mammal … It’s terrible to be thin and wispy, because, you know, you could get knocked over by a strong wind or something." Fun aside, Morrison seriously questions our culture’s obssession with slim figure. “What’s wrong with being fat?” he asks. Putting some extra weight may not be so bad after all. Besides, isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder?
